Access Covers

Access Covers

At Steelway protect we are a market leader of fabricated steel security access covers and frames. We offer an array of different security access covers including hinged access covers and our Sentry High Security covers and frames.

Steelway Protect specialises in the design and production of secure access covers for the civil engineering industry, and can provide a wide range of solutions for the commercial, industrial and utility sectors.

Access Covers and Frames

Also referred to as manhole covers, access covers are designed to restrict access for safety and security reasons. Our security access covers are manufactured onsite by hand. Using a combination of traditional and modern fabrication techniques, including laser cutting technology and CNC multi axis press brake machines, at Steelway Protect we can design and fabricate a dimensionally accurate and stable product.

Designing our access covers using the latest 3D Parametric software, allows for a faster turnaround in production lead times.

Majority of the products available at Steelway Protect have been galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 standards, with the additional options of slip resistance and powder coatings. Our range of security products include LPS 1175 rated steel covers and frames, kiosks, cages, vented panels, door sets and bar sets.

As a founder member of the Fabricated Access Covers Trade Association (FACTA) our products are designed and manufactured to the latest FACTA specification, we also pride ourselves on having a range of slide out EN124:B125 kitemarked products designed to meet the requirements of the telecommunications sector.

Bespoke Specification

On projects which require non standard sizes and products which sit outside of the scope of the specification, we have the flexibility to design and fabricate in line with the same requirements.

Surveying and Installation

We also offer as part of our package site surveying where a member of our staff will meet to go through your requirements to ensure the correct solution is supplied. We have a dedicated installation team to ensure the products are installed in line with factory test conditions.

Commissioning

The practical completion and commissioning process of our works includes inspection and testing to ensure functionality, safety and compliance, along with the perfect working order of our products.

As part of the handover process, we ensure that the client’s site representatives are fully conversant and trained in the safe operation of installed products. We aim to install all products correctly first time, everytime, and we measure our success by the satisfaction of our clients and practical handover of sites.

Survey

Our survey team are very often the first feet on the site and pride themselves in offering the client cost effective, aesthetically pleasing and LPCB standard compliant security solutions.

An in-house belief in the age-old statement that ‘well begun is three parts done’ drives a desire to always capture the right information, allowing correct interpretation by our design and manufacturing colleagues which naturally leads to a perfect delivery and total client satisfaction. We aim to make today’s client tomorrow’s advocate of our business.

Design

Our design philosophy encompasses the latest in 3D Parametric design-based software. This allows for faster turnaround in production lead times of our valued engineered product range.

Designed to deliver a bespoke solution combining product functionality, performance, durability and aesthetics, whilst meeting the standards of the appropriate LPCB approved certification. This provides recognised security to the highest level.

Manufacturing

Steelway Protect is part of The Steelway Group, a marketleading group offering turnkey solutions across a range of sectors including access metalwork, fencing and a range of fabricated steel access covers. We work across three manufacturing sites in the West Midlands.

With the capability of the Group and the agility of the dynamic Protect team, we are perfectly positioned to offer a wide range of security solutions for the utilities, commercial and industrial markets.

All of our fabricated security products are bespokely engineered and produced using the latest CNC technology. Our design philosophy encompasses the latest in 3D Parametric design-based software. This allows for a faster turnaround in production lead times of our LPS 1175 rated access covers and frames, kiosks, cages, mesh systems, doorsets and barsets.

Project Management

Our Project Management Team are an experienced group who thrive on delivering complex and tight programmes. Early client consultation and engagement allows us to develop collaborative working relationships that clearly define expectations.

We prefer to be proactive from design to installation and use our expertise to anticipate and mitigate potential issues through the design process. We look to drive out inefficiencies and where possible, add value to our solutions by offering offsite construction and crane-in solutions, particularly with our modular kiosk and cage systems. These can be assembled and fully fitted offsite for quick and simple delivery, minimising any site disruption.

Our aim is to harness our valued engineering and operational efficiency to create innovative solutions, whilst maintaining specification compliance.

Testing & Certification

We are able to offer our suite of products with LPS1175 security ratings, from SR2 up to SR4. The products are tested and certified by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) which delivers assurances that products have met, and will continue to meet, the requirements of specified security standards. This means that all products have undergone type testing and technical evaluation and that our manufacturing quality system and production procedures are periodically audited to ensure ongoing compliance with the tested standard. For us this is normal... for you the client... it delivers the assurance of compliance.

We pride ourselves upon the ability to work with our clients to satisfy the often conflicting requirements of fully certified products with real life sites, installs and conditions – we understand that real-life situations don’t always look like the test rig. As such, we offer our expertise and the ability for project specific testing and assessment to ensure you don’t have to compromise on specification. We are also able to offer products with Fire, Flood, Acoustic and Thermal ratings and certification.

Installation

Our installation teams are subject to ongoing training and certification to ensure safe, efficient and compliant on-site installations.

It is necessary that the installation of LPS1175 security equipment is undertaken by approved fitters to ensure the correct procedures, fastenings and fittings are used in order to adhere to product certification.

We focus on minimising disruption and time on-site by offering off-site construction and crane-in solutions, particularly with our modular kiosk and cage systems. Not only does this save time on-site, it also mitigates the risk to the client.

Maintenance

Periodic maintenance ensures the lowest whole life cost of our product range and forms part of our extended warranty offering. A maintenance agreement ensures consistent fees, regular availability and savings over random or emergency call outs.

Preventative maintenance managed through the regular and routine inspections keep everything working, and prevents any costly unplanned downtime from unexpected equipment failure.

A maintenance strategy, to ensure the planning and scheduling of regular maintenance before a problem occurs, is always a worthy investment.
