High Value Building Security

Project scope

Another one of the UK's largest water treatment works approached Steelway to implement new security measures for multiple buildings on the premises. The purpose was to align the site with the expected standards of a sewage treatment facility. To meet these requirements, the plan was to install SR3 doors and bar sets on the windows and to make them compatible with the IDS(intruder detection system), for the listed buildings.

The solution

Involved in generating an initial quotation to provide an estimate of the costs based on the specified requirements at the time of inquiry. This quotation was subsequently revised once all surveys had been conducted and the sizes of the doors and windows had been confirmed. Drawings were then created, and, upon approval, all items were manufactured within the agreed timeframe of 5-6 weeks. Subsequently, the installation process commenced and was successfully completed as agreed. Additionally, Steelway took responsibility for removing and disposing of all existing doors on the site during the installation process.

A number of barsets and door sets, including roller shutter doors, across multiple buildings located on the premises were installed. Additionally, security cages were to be installed within the administrative building of the site, strategically placed around specific high-value critical assets. These cages would allow access to authorized personnel while preventing unauthorized use through locking mechanisms.

The site's layout posed certain challenges for surveying and fitting. The buildings requiring reinforcement were situated at various positions throughout the site, with windows and doors located at different levels. Some areas necessitated the use of scaffolding to accurately conduct surveys. Furthermore, certain windows were situated on mid-level roofs, thus necessitating careful consideration of health and safety regulations and ensuring safe access.
